Project Description
2013. Brain on Stage at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB)
The human brain comprises billions of neurons and trillions of connections. This organ defines who we are, what we do and experience. The “Brain on Stage” performance is built around new state of the art approaches towards the analysis of the brain supporting our understanding of this complex system to elucidate the creative brain: a brain whose states are driven by music. The performance takes the audience on a tour through the different brain areas that collectively define our experience of music and how these can, in turn, drive creative expression in computer graphics and music.
“Brain on Stage” is realized and performed by researchers of the Synthetic Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Systems laboratory (SPECS), from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Their work was supported by the European project CEEDS
SPECS has presented ‘Brain on Stage’ during the KiiCS event on Thursday May 23rd 2013 at the Auditorium of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB).
